sample random sampling

Installation, UV printed onto Acrylic glass, PLA 3d printed objects, 2021-2022

Countless im/material sample data generated through the image generation algorithm are reproduced in a virtual collection room as an archive mixed with fiction. The fictional 'Philosopher’s stone' that transforms all substances into gold is presented as sample data. The stone images captured through light are recreated into virtual stones through random genetic mutation sampling, converted into the material, and archived in real space. The work examines im/material conditions and asks how non-material data can be perceived and archived. It focuses on the bizarreness and closeness between the materiality that transfers back and forth between reality and virtuality and the genetic synthesis that is constantly copied and combined.
