Akazi, Barocco, Arirang (documentary film)
Documentary film, work-in-progress
Akazi, Barocco, Arirang is an essay documentary that juxtaposes the life of Korean nurse Lee Kye-soon, who migrated to Germany in the 1960s as a so-called guest worker, with the trajectory of the acacia tree, a species that has travelled between Europe and Asia. Through the voice of her daughter Kang Youn-Jun, family archives, and the domestic and urban spaces they inhabit, the film traces how memory persists across generations and moves between humans, plants, and objects within histories of migration, care, and labour.
